U11G - Dearborn Soccer Tournament
The DeWitt Dashers U11 Girls USSF team opened its season by playing in the Dearborn Soccer Tournament on August 22-24. The Dashers went undefeated and shut out three Detroit area teams to advance to the tournament championship against the Michigan Hawks, where they took second place in a physical and hard fought match. Congratulations, Dashers!!! The trophy and team picture are on display at Herbison Woods. Team members include from left to right: (sitting) Kayla Upshaw, Hannah Acre, Emmalee Skorich, Averie Conn and Lauren Harris; (kneeling) Abbey Hadar, Hillary Womboldt, Alex Toth, Katie Coon, and Beth Coon; (standing) Katlyn Hertzer, Erica Goodenough, Kailyn Wegenke, Ruthanne Havlichek, and Coaches Jean Wegenke and Toni Harris. The Dashers will play in the Petoskey Autumn Blast Tournament during Sept. 6-7 before beginning league play on Sept. 14 at 3:00 p.m. against Charlotte at their home field west of DeWitt High School.
