February 26, 2006 DeWitt Soccer Club Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order: 7:30 p.m.
Meeting minutes approved: Tom V. moves to approve January minutes; seconded by Dave K.; motion passes unanimously
NEW BUSINESS:
Soccerzone
- $10/coach with a minimum of 9 coaches, no maximum
- 8:30 p.m. on Friday, March 24
- 55 minute timeslot
- $90 rental fee
- Taught by Shawn
- Coaches only
- Board may cover the cost
- For players only
- After spring break in April, by Ryan Hostler and, if necessary, additional coaches; need pre-registration to determine staffing needs
- Invite USSF players and AYSO coaches, determine whether there is enough interest in AYSO program for a separate program or players.
- Discouraging issues re: fall
- Not getting max benefit because doing the same drills modified for each different skill level and age group
- Spring suggestions
- Have first four days of week of April 13
- Take first day for U9/U10 clinic
- Second day – U11/U12 clinic
- Third day – U13/U14 clinic
- Fourth day – specific clinic
- Two days in early and late May for shooting and finishing clinic and another topic tbd
- Spoke with Pat Howard – have U16 CA Boys and trying to get two games under the lights at high school with an hour to warm up and do games with kids
- Need pre-registration

- Shawn will email plan to Tom V. to get to AYSO and coaches and players

OLD BUSINESS:

- incorporated the 4x4 to have only one statement
- need tax return b/c of receipts over $25K, deadline is May 15
- will wait to determine if 501(C)(3) and request extension
- Tony Noyola - Golf Outing Report
- Revamping golf outing flier and removing 4x4 references
- Not involved with 4x4 and sponsors not likely to be upset with being approached twice.
- 2nd letter re: only 4x4
- 3rd letter re: golf outing and 4x4 to those that sponsored both last year.
- Mark K. & Tony N. will discuss dual sponsorships.
- Friday, May 19 – Prairie Creek
- $75
- Lunch + dinner or buffet (coffee and donuts free)
- 9:30 a.m. shotgun start; 8:30-9:30 a.m. registration
- Package will cost us between ~ $30-$35 golfers
- Goal is for 90 golfers
- Tony will attend games to handout fliers

- Registration mtg is set and coaches are notified
- Mtg is at Summit
- Chuck will check with CASL board re: coach certification reimbursement
- By the March meeting, Chuck and Dave B. will provide outlines for board review and discussion at April meeting re:
- tryouts and determining how the coaches and two teams were decided and formed
- lesson learned – gives coaches names of evaluators, tell evaluators to call coaches if they cannot attend, attendance by board members
- written policies and procedures on handling tryouts, evaluations, two-team evaluations

- Chuck will work on getting coaching application for web site

- Nothing from AYSO
- Will carry info to AYSO from DSC
- No penalty for no final approval of permit for well; no cost
- Tom VanderWoude – Training/Education
- will work with Shawn re: goalie training and outdoor clinics
- Murphy Lawn Service is hired; will start asap in spring
- School reps know the service is coming and mowing will increase
- Watch dog on E-license – Jim Mahoney is deciding whether he’ll coach and, if yes, then will get his E-license
- Dave DeSmyter – can he get an E-license in Florida? Tom says yes, assuming it’s a 2 day, 16 hour course, requested certificate on completion and details on training; may take April class in MI if not going to Florida.
- He may not be eligible for reimbursement from CASL
- Dave Kracko – Fields Report
- still working on goals for Herbison Woods, may need $$
- may get more goals for High School – TBD
- will contact Soccer Locker, Johnny Mac’s for supply discounts or overstock
- 8x24, 7x21, 6x18 – must be portable
