Meeting minutes – Monday, August 30, 2004
Board members present: Chuck Murdoch, Angie Schneider, Tony Harris, Toni Harris; Tom VanderWoude; Dave Kracko; Mark Kellogg; Mark Helinski; Larry Tait; Dave Barnhill
Meeting called to order: 8:00 p.m.
Review and approve meeting minutes from July, 2004
- Motion by Angie to adopt meeting minutes

AGENDA
A. Reports and Old Business
- will have full report next meeting
- Preliminary numbers:
- 4x4 made around ~ $11,000 net (gross ~ $17,150) – best year yet
- concessions made ~ $3725
- paid $15,000 toward lights bill
- may not have enough out of 4x4 for next year’s payment – may have to transfer $ from another account
- two payments left
- Larry will have separate 4x4 meeting
- Got the bill for the DeWitt Soccer field
- Chuck wants to raise soccer club fee
- 3 seasons – total due $2900 – last year + spring
- 501(c)(3) application is in the process – will take 5-6 months to receive feedback
- board voted to support Toni’s team playing in MCL for the reasons presented by Toni to the board.
- Dave will draft a letter to the MCL about showing DSC on the web site
- asked to talk to CASL board about Toni’s team
- if Toni wants to play U13 Elite, she would have to participate in U12 CASL in the spring to get record and qualify for Elite
- it’s up to Club on whether the Club allows MCL to have DeWitt Soccer Club on the web site
- Lansing Soccer Club still plays both and they suggest not to have Lansing Soccer Club on MCL web site
- If teams leave, that will hurt the league
- Is CASL going to address why teams may want to leave and adapt
- CA has developmental youth training and premier teams
- there’s more than CA in the area – TNT, CA and Chill
- local teams are being split up
- Mark K’s team played in the Elite league for 3 years.
- girls doing many sports and are back in the CASL league (reduced travel) and won 14-0 against Bath/Laingsburg
- don’t anticipate the remaining games will be like that
- Will discuss whether CASL will freeze Toni’s team out of Elite league if she doesn’t return
- Toni’s team can represent CASL in Elite next year as a positive image for the Lansing area
- Chuck said – DSC wants recommendations and CASL thoughts about the team leaving CASL and going to MCL
- CASL will put something in writing during the next meeting
- Club supported Toni in her decision but wants a clarification in writing
- Games over the weekend went fine
- two fields painted U9/10 and U11/12
- looking for new nets to replace on goals
- needs some net cleats for back of nets
- enough flags to provide to most coaches of the younger teams - 8
- provide storage at high school fields to store flags and combination locks
- no more than 2 teams practicing at a field at any given time except for 3 6v6 coaches that made an agreement on working together
- Dave approached Rayburn, Jamal and baseball program about getting water out to AYSO fields
- no report
- will email Dave information re: Jamal and clinics
- Decals out for 4x4 and made $70 ($15 = Angie Schneider)
- Suggest to coaches to get orders from parents
- will put it on web site and ask coaches to direct parents to web site
- will send out an email form so people can order via email
- price = $10/large(cost -$4.50) and $5/small (cost- $1.87) at 4x4
- suggest lowering price to $7/large and $4/small
- Tony’s motion to adopt lower prices, seconded by Angie – passes unanimously
- also provide hard copy to all coaches for distribution to families
- Patches
- coaches that want extras
- Motion by Tom Vanderwoude that teams will get 3 patches - one per player and two additional per tournaments; seconded by Angie - motions passes

- Tom – the purpose of the patches was to get DSC out there in the public
- Chuck – don’t want them to sit around
- Web site - Pictures in the DeWitt Bath Review without names, etc.
- put the information and pictures, including names, on the web site
- will get the practice schedule on the web site
- concern about whether AYSO teams will pick up practices at Fuerstenau and blocking the time out so it shows as unavailable if it happens
- Goalie camp
- didn’t happen due to time constraints
- will pick a night during the season for goalie practice at the Pioszak house and offer teams to have their goalies over to practice.
- no charge this year; maybe next year, including a mini camp
- tournament was a success – well-organized, good refs,
- will have a meeting to address concerns
- look for radio sponsor for next year
- sub on the fly – to be discussed at the 4x4 meeting
- complaints about playing games that don’t count
- some uniforms have been distributed to teams
- shipping and backorder issues
- any questions should be directed to Dave, not BLT’s or Soccer Locker
- will establish a procedure for the future
- players are happy with the look of the uniform
- season starts soon
