DeWitt Soccer Club

Members present: Chuck Murdoch, Tony Harris, Angie Schneider, Wendy Embs, Mark Kellogg, Larry Tait, Bruce Thomas, Dave Barnhill. Guest present: Toni Harris.

4x4 Debriefing: Tournament went well. Concessions netted $2148.00. Total Profit was approximately $7848.00. Need to get Thank you's out to sponsors with T-shirts. Discussed the need to market more applications earlier. Possibly take some to tournaments in the spring. Send Letters out earlier to sponsors and new sponsors and advertising on the Witt Channel, DBR. There is need to replace many committee heads for next year. Would like to do this early to get the new committee heads together with the outgoing committee heads to give advice, direction, and help them get started.

Web Site: Tony Harris has updated and will continue to manage the web site. It will contain Club info, Casl schedules, Try outs, team and team news. We will have the coaches give contact name and/or Team manager. We will not use any youth's names. There will be a section for the AYSO teams as well. They can email any news, scores, etc. to Tony at webworksmi@comcast.net. Ox roast 4x4 info will also be available as well as a Coaches corner, info on camps, and our links to other soccer web sites.

By-Laws: Mark will have update ready by the next meeting.

Board Composition: Lengthy discussion for what Board positions were needed or needed to be filled. The need for a Vice president was also discussed. A need to have separate chairpersons for the 4x4 and the golf outing, communications, as well as sponsors. Chuck Murdoch made the motion to elect Dave Barnhill as president. Seconded by Wendy Embs. Motion approved. Angie Schneider offered to take over as the Golf outing chairperson if someone else was made secretary. Toni Harris offered to take over secretary. Bruce Thomas will be stepping down as Treasurer. Mark Kellogg will take over as of the next meeting as treasurer.

Meeting Schedule: The next meeting will be the fourth Wednesday of October which is Wednesday, October 22, 2003. This will be held at the Banquet & Conference Center of Dewitt at 7:30pm. This is located behind Burger King. This will be an open meeting to the public. We are hoping to have many coaches attend as well as get the information to their players parents to come as well. We need more involvement to help the soccer community thrive in DeWitt. We have vacancies on the board as well as many committee openings with the golf outing and 4x4. Please forward this information to as many people as you can. Wendy will get this information on the WITT channel and Toni will get the information in the DBR.

Other Topics: Mark Kellogg will take care of the 501C3 paperwork to make us a charitable non profit organization.

Dave talked with Jamal about bringing together the high school players with the younger players. Having them attend games, and maybe hosting camps with them for both the boys and girls. Having coaching clinics or other community activities.

Water problems at the high school fields were discussed. We were unable to get a permit to water. Discussed the cost of well Vs metered water.

Club uniforms were discussed. Having all teams wearing the same uniforms and being recognized right away as a DeWitt team. The cost of uniforms may be less if purchased in large quantity.
